Beauty: The Benefit "that gal" Brightening Face Primer

I have only recently become a fan of the benefit makeup, I think for me their pricing and slightly OTT packaging had me thinking that there stuff was just a bit of a gimmick, and perhaps not as good as MAC. However, since buying their promotional stocking offer recently, and picking up a few minis from the range, I have succumbed to the hype and would now say that I am a solid fan of the brand. This product is a particular favourite of mine, after using a tester size and squeezing every last drop out of it, I just had to pick up the original size one, and with 10% off this weekend, It didn't break the bank too much.

Skincare: Origins Out of Trouble Facial Mask

I am a bit of a sucker when it comes to face masks, to me theres nothing better than spending a sunday night pampering yourself with a bubbly bath, a glass of Pino and a hard working face mask. I particularly love the Origins face masks as for me they really work in terms of deep cleaning and ridding the skin of any excess dirt and oil. I normally use my origins charcoal mask which is fab for deep cleansing the pores, however recently on a trip to boots, origins were doing a great offer where you buy 3 masks in one set, the charcoal one, their intensive overnight mask and this one for just £20! And considering I hadn't tried the Out of trouble* mask before, I wasn't going to miss this opportunity.

Lifestyle: 7 tips to boost your CV and secure that dream job

After months of emails, cover letters and CVs I have finally managed to secure myself a job, and not just any job, a proper, grown up and slightly nerve racking marketing job. After studying PR and Journalism at University, Marketing was always a strong career option for me, I felt like I fitted in better with the whole social media and business aspects of it as opposed to the cut-throat world of Journalism.  I know I am incredibly lucky to have secured my first job, however luck was just a portion of it. I feel that I wouldn't have gotten anywhere without my degree, various different work experiences and above all, my blog. For someone wanting to go into Journalism, marketing, PR or advertising having a blog and relevant work experience is imperative in boosting your CV and putting you ahead of the other thousands of graduates looking to get their foot in the door. I want to put my experiences to good use so in this post I will be giving you some tips on how to ensure your CV is put to the top of the pile.

Lifestyle: Burning Yankee Candles The Cheap Way

I absolutely adore candles, I love that lighting a simple candle can create such a gorgeous atmosphere and leave a lovely warm glow and subtle scent. Like most other woman my age, I am a massive fan of the Yankee candles, specifically because their candles are so well scented and they have many different types to choose from, whether that be fresh scents such as clean cotton or sweet and sickly scents such as vanilla cupcake, their products will cater to everyone at any age.

Lifestyle: Fall in love with exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle

I have been wanting to write a post like this for quite a while, simply because the subject area is something very close to my heart and something which has changed my life and my health for the better. I am a massive advocate for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and exercising on a regular basis and really do feel like it benefits you so much, for both that moment and in the long run. I have always been quite an active person, I did ballet, swimming and gymnastics from the age of 7 till my early teens, and always loved to get involved with cross countries and fun runs. I was never really keen on sports day, purely because I felt it was all a bit of a popularity contest, and I every year I would be so  embarrassed of my bean pole like body and the fact that I never really developed womanly assets till my late teens.

Beauty: My go-to Autumn nude's

Autumn is a time to be bold and bright when it comes to lip colours, deep berry, vampy purple and daring red are usually the shades to opt for, however when it comes to lipstick, I cant help but always crawl back to me beloved nudes, so today I will be sharing with you a few that I have been wearing throughout the autumn months as a more subtle option.

Haircare: Schwarzkopf Crystal Shine finishing oil

Since I recently had the chop, I wanted to buy myself some decent hair serums, oils and sprays to keep my mane somewhat under control for the winter months. My hair is pretty thick, and although some would see this as a good thing, for me it just means that my hair gets super knotty, frizzy and always seems to matte up in the crown area, which is ridiculously annoying. I wanted to buy myself some products to help tackle the frizz and to make my hair a little easier to manage, as I’m not the most patient person in the world when it comes to grooming my hair.

Skincare: My morning skincare routine

In today’s post I will be sharing with you my morning skincare routine, this has recently changed a little as I have re-purchased a few la Roche Posay products to try and tackle my oily T-zone. I am a big fan of everything skincare related and love to try out and test new products and brands that interest me. Having a skincare routine is so important for keeping your skin in good nick and away from nasty breakouts and blocked pores. Whenever you see a girl in the street and you think to yourself “OMG her makeup and skin is just flawless”, I can guarantee you that she probably has a very strict skincare regime to maintain healthy looking skin.

Fashion: The faux fur shawl/scarf

My aim for the next few months is to try and make my blog a little more fashion focussed rather than just beauty and skincare, as I feel that this can become a little same old same old after a while. I am a big fan of Fashion and have always been a lover of shopping and putting various different pieces together; I especially adore winter fashion as I think this is when you can really let your own personal style shine. I love wrapping myself up in a big old oversized coat, a woolly scarf, some cute winter booties, all complemented with a cute pair of skinny jeans or leather trousers. I recently went shopping in my hometown for a few smart work pieces, and of course managed to steer away from the brief and headed straight for Top shop and H&M.

I am currently loving H&M, I find they can sometimes be a bit hit and miss however recently I have found some gorgeous pieces in their woman collection for such amazing prices. This faux fur scarf is a recent H&M purchase, as soon as I saw it I literally made a B-line across the store, I know it looks slightly like having a racoon wrapped around your neck, but I just think it adds something a little different rather than your average scarf. It cost me £14.00, which I think is a steal considering it looks so much more expensive and something you would find in a designer store. I will definitely be pairing this with my oversized black coat and a nice fedora hat this winter, if it gets a bit cooler that is!

Beauty: Chanel's soleil tan de chanel (bronze universal)

I absolutely adore Chanel, if I could afford to, I would choose to only ever use Chanel products, however sadly my bank account cant quite stretch to that feat, so I will have to make do in small doses, mind you this does make every Chanel purchase that little bit more special.

I had been ogling the Chanel bronze Universal every time I stepped foot in a department store,  it first hit the beauty blogging community a few years ago and since then its become one of those cult products that every beauty lover has in their kit and swears by, plus the packaging is just too gorgeous for words. I've had this bronzer almost a year now and I haven't even touched pan, however in a bid to make it last, I do tend to save it for special occasions rather than every day use. It has the most gorgeous creamy texture with a lovely caramel brown shade that isn’t too dark and isn’t too light, it also has a subtle shimmer which gives your face a lovely glow.

I think the best thing about this product is that it is buildable, being a cream product I was a little worried that it would apply really pigmented and leave a brown splodge on my cheek, however it really does go on flawlessly and subtly enough so there is no worry of an OTT application. I tend to apply this with a bronzing blush all over the face, focussing on the cheekbones and the jaw line, which gives me a healthy looking, glowing complexion. I can see why so many people have been fawning over this product, as it really can be used for any occasion, whether you opt for a subtle day to day glow, or go for a dramatic bronzed look for a night out its the perfect bronzer to have in your collection.

Skincare: Argan Oil night repair serum

You all know by now that I’m a bit of a bargain hunter when it comes to beauty and skincare, and can simply never resist trying a brand out when it has such a dreamy price tag! My most recent budget buy was this Argan oil night repair serum from the shop, Savers(if you aren't from the UK its basically a cheap drugstore) which I picked up for just £1.99, I got muddled a few weeks back thinking it was £2.99 when I posted a picture of it on Instagram, but it is actually a quid cheaper and that is just mad considering most night serums and oils aren’t much under 20 quid. I admit that this may not be the best night treatment on the market, but actually it’s definitely up there with some of the drugstore skincare products, also the packaging is just so lovely, how can something be so beautifully packaged and priced so low?!

I have been using this product every evening before my moisturiser (willingly putting aside my beloved kiehl’s midnight oil to give an honest review) and actually it is a pretty good little product. The consistency is a bit odd, as its quite white and creamy and just not really what I was expecting, and the smell is quite similar to their hair products, however once applied to the skin you actually feel that your skin is a lot more moisturised than usual and it instantly gives you a little glow. In the morning my skin feels fresh and still moisturised so I know that it has done its job of repairing and conditioning my skin to some degree. This may not be a cult beauty product, however for the price it is a great little item to have in your skincare regime, especially for someone new to serums and oils or someone just on a bit of a budget.

Beauty: Cheap and cheerful ebay makeup brush set

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit of a fan of buying fake makeup brushes online... you wanna know why? Because their cheap, come in a generous set and are surprisingly good quality. I bought a few sets back when I was 16, and since then have moved on to bigger and better things such as the Real Techniques brushes, which are great quality but also very affordable, however the other night I slipped back into my old ways and sneakily purchased this gorgeous fake set of sigma brushes from eBay for around £8.00.

Firstly, I absolutely adore the colours of them, as you can probably tell I am all about that white look ATM and these just look so sleek in my cute little pot on my dressing table. Secondly, I love that they include literally every core brush you need, such as your classic buffing brushes, an amazingly domed contour brush, and some amazing eye brushes. When I first used these on my face I actually couldn’t believe the softness, genuinely they are probably softer than the real techniques, it’s like rubbing your face with a tiny little baby bunny… (bit weird, but you get what I mean)

Probably the most important point, the application; if I’m honest I really cant fault this, the buffing brushes work amazing with my liquid foundation and really work the product into the skin and give my skin an amazing finish. The contour brush, which is currently my favourite is probably the best contour brush I have used simply because it has such a good shape for the application and means you can create a lovely contour line along the hollows.

These brushes may show their true colours in a few weeks or so, shedding after a few washes, however I do think that for the price they are amazing value and really do apply my makeup really well, plus they look so cute and a girl can never have too many makeup brushes!
